Day and Night by Whitney Mongé
Verse 1:
It’s been ninety days since I’ve seen the sun
Sittin’ in the rain in the Seattle area
Wonderin’ if my bones will ever be warm
A thousand more bucks and I’m out the door
I can't take it
Verse 2:
I’ve been savin’ up just to get away
Feelin’ like the ten years I been here I worn my stay
Lookin’ around and can’t find a single friend
Maybe it’s time that I start all over again
Chorus 1:
‘Cause I know a place that I can go
Where I can finally call my home
It’s where the sun is always shining
Day and night, day and night
Verse 3:
I hit a glass ceiling
Ain’t nobody feelin’
The jams that I’m puttin’ out
Zero people in the crowd
I gotta get out
Chorus 2:
‘Cause I know a place that I can go
Where I can finally call my home
It’s where the sun is always shining
Day and night, day and night
These people just don’t understand
Exactly who the hell I am
I’ve always been a star shining
Day and night, day and night

What Would Love Do Now
Verse 1:
It can’t be about politics
The red and the blue well they all are same thing
It can’t be about your religion
We’re all children of god even if think different
It can’t be about where you’re from
Well we all deserve a chance in the land of freedom
Pre-Chorus:
I’ll keep on trying
To show the world and to show you that there’s no need for fighting
Chorus 1:
What would love do now
What would love do now
Verse 2:
It can’t be about the policemen
;Cause under that armor is a woman and man
It can’t be about the color of my skin
Brown, black or white yeah we all bleed the same red
What Would Love Do Now cont. 2
Pre-Chorus:
And I’ll keep on trying
To show the world and to show you that there’s no need for fighting
Chorus 2:
What would love do now
What would love do now
What would love do now
What would love do now
Instrumental Break
Pre-Chorus:
And I’ll keep on trying
To show the world and to show you that there’s no need for fighting
Chorus:
What would love do now
What would love do now
(Just ask yourself) What would love do now
What would love do now
What Would Love Do Now cont. 3
Outro:
Love would lend a helping hand
Love would see that we are all human
Love is gonna bring us all the healing
Love can move any of them mountains
Love is the catalyst to change
Love is gonna stop all the pain
Love is gonna open your heart
Love is who we really are
Love shines a light in the darkness
Love is my patience and kindness
Love is accountability
Love is my life and my liberty
Love holds people over profit
Love is the only way we can stop hate
Love would open your heart
Love is who we really are

“Gracefully” by Whitney Mongé (capo 7)
(verse 1)
Searching, I'm still searching
For a life that brings me some peace
Working, I'm still working
On being the better me
When I find it, yes I'll find it
I know just what I'll see
Well my dreams will come true
In all that I do
Gracefully
(verse 2)
Beginning, I'm beginning
To listen to my soul
If I follow where it leads me
Well I know I will be whole
There's a reason for every season
Though some I'll never know
If I believe I am fine
Then my life is all right
Gracefully
(chorus)
Sometimes I do things
I don't believe in
Sometimes I think I'm
Driving down the wrong road
But when I remember
I'm still learning
And I'll be learning until I'm old
I'll be learning until I'm old
(verse 3)
Singing, always singing
A song that's close to my heart
So you can hear me loud and clearly
No, we are not worlds apart
And I know it, yes I know it
A revolution's gonna start
If I believe we can change
Then the world will rearrange
Gracefully
(chorus)
Sometimes I do things
I don't believe in
Sometimes I think I'm
Driving down the wrong road
But when I remember
I'm still learning
And I'll be learning until I'm old
I'll be learning until I'm old
(verse 1)(refrain)
Searching, I'll keep searching
For a life that brings me some peace
Working, I'm still working
On being the better me
When I find it, yes I'll find it
I know just what I'll see
(retard)
Well my dreams will come true
In all that I do
Gracefully

Chemical Reaction
(Verse 1)
If my heart could be one color it’d be blue
Because that’s how much I miss you
If my soul could paint a picture it’d be of you
Because that’s how much I see you in my mind
(Chorus)
There must be a chemical reaction now
There must be a chemical reaction now
(Verse 2)
If my mouth could say one word it’d be your name
Well you know that I just can’t refrain
From lovin’ you and that’s all I wanna do
But you won’t let me then you set me out in the rain
(Chorus)
There must be a chemical reaction coming on right now,
There must be a chemical reaction now
(Build/Chorus 2)
You know I want you, you know I want you
You know I want you yeah
I want you babe, you know I want you
I’m a fool babe for fallin’ for you
I want you babe you, you know I want you
I’m a fool baby for fallin’ in love
For fallin’ in love with you
(Outro)
What am I gonna do now babe
Now that I’m so I am so in love with you
I’m a fool, you know I’m fool
For fallin’ in love, for fallin’ in love with you

Home by Whitney Mongé
(Verse1)
Searching for a place that I can lay my head
Breathing barely breathing it’s almost like I’m dead
Looking for a space that I can live my life
So I’m leaving on a plane I’ll be gone by midnight
(Chorus)
Will I ever know the place that I call home
Will I ever hold the key to why I still roam
Will I go, will go……...
(Verse 2)
Stealing always stealing a piece and a part of me
They’re telling me all the things that they think that I should be
But my song is the only thing that keeps me moving along
So if I follow what they will I finally belong
(Chorus)
Will I ever know the place that I call home
Will I ever hold the key to why I still roam
Will I go, will go home
Will I ever know the place that I call home
Will I ever hold the key to why I still roam
Will I go, will go home

A Day of Rest by Whitney Mongé
I see that my hands, my hands are tied
And I know it was me, me who has lied
The truth holds water that I cannot bear
Take me out, out of my head
Make me lay down, down in this bed I’ve made
I fear what I, I cannot feel
By now love seems like it’s not so real
But my heart does not, not seem to care
What is here and what is there
What I can have and what is unfair
I will define just what is despair
By the end of this, the end of this…

Crash by Whitney Mongé
(Verse 1)
Oh darling
it must be rough
Giving all yourself
But never enough
To get what you need
To the places you dream
One day, one day
You'll be free
(Verse 2)
Oh darling
It must be hard
Selling your soul
Just to be a star
But it's killing me
Just to watch you bleed
One day, one day
You'll be free
(Chorus)
Crash, crash on me
And I'll show, show you
What you can be
When you're crying, cry on me
One day, one day, one day
I'm gonna set you free
(Verse 3)
Oh darling
You'd give anything
Just to be on the radio
Or a TV screen
The American Idol
The American dream
One day, one day
You'll be free
(Chorus)
(Verse 4)
Wait
There's another way
If you just hold on
For the brighter days
So get off your knees
Stop begging please
Cause today is your day
That you'll be free
(Chorus)

Tomorrow by Whitney Mongé
(Verse 1)
I'm ready
I'm ready to hit the road
I know of a place
That we can go
I got an idea
To get us out of here
To get us out of here
Trust me love
We got nothing left to fear
(Chorus)
'Cause everything I own
Is all borrowed
And the only thing to lose
Is tomorrow
(Verse 2)
Can you feel it
That's the feeling of freedom
Ain't got much money
But we got plenty of love, oh love
The world is calling
Calling your sweet name, your name
Lets go out and see it
There's no need for fortune or fame
No need for fortune or fame
(Chorus)
(Break)
Tomorrow, tomorrow
Oh tomorrow, oh tomorrow
Tomorrow
(Verse 3)
The door is open
You can come right in
There's no need for mantra
To wash away that sin
It's your life
You only get one
No we only get one
Are you gonna live it
In the clouds or in the sun
In the clouds or in the sun yeah
(Chorus 2x)

Out by Whitney Mongé
It's killing me
It's bringing me down
It's eaten you up, eaten me up
And it's eaten up the town
Well everybody's got a plan
But they stay right here
Watch the hours
As they disappear
(Chorus)
There ain't no easy way
For me to get out of here
Said I gotta go
Said I gotta go
Ii used to be a little girl
But I grown in a cold world
Said I gotta go
Said I gotta go
Away from here
Away from here
If home is the heart
Then I'm broken down
How did it start
I gotta figure it out
It's only my fault
When you boil it down
I got to this place
And I don't how
(Chorus)

Tangled In
Verse 1
It’s coming up behind ya
It’s coming up to hurt ya
If it was a fire
Ya know that it would burn ya
Pre-Chorus
And all my enemies are friends
Tangled in
Verse 2
It’s coming up to blind ya
It’s coming up to meet ya
If it was a lion
Ya know that it would eat ya

Tangled in
Well I’m aware
And hate that I’ve wasted
All this time
Break
Ooooooo
Ahoooooo
Ahoooooo
Chorus 1
I don’t know where my, my head is
I can’t seem to find my way in
Push through the other side
Breakin’ into the light
Or will I decide to die
Verse 3
It’s coming up to find ya
It’s coming up to beat ya
If it was a liar
Ya know that it would cheat ya
Pre-Chorus
And all my enemies are friends
Tangled in
Oh well and I’m aware
And hate that I’ve wasted
All this time
Chorus

Carry on I’ll be fine
Move along cause it’s my time
To rise from the ashes like a phoenix
We all wanna know the greater meaning

Whitney Mongé and the Seattle Symphony played a live show on October 2, 2020 that was the first of its kind. Performed and recorded in an empty S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium at Benaroya Hall in downtown Seattle, the scene was set for an interesting new way of creating live music in times of adversity. During unprecedented times, the United States and the majority of countries around the world were in a lockdown due to the unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic. Live music and large gatherings were the first to shut down and remained at a complete standstill for over 8 months. This is ultimately what inspired the vision of cultivating a safe, socially-distant yet unifying musical series for the upcoming 2020 Seattle Symphony season. Through vigorous health safety measures and clever stage setup to make a safe space for all involved, Seattle Symphony put together a unique program called the Essential Series, where local artists collaborate with “the most vital American orchestra” (NPR) . The first show of the series, SSO paired up with roots music singer-songwriter & guitarist, Whitney Mongé, performing twelve of her original songs. Months leading up to the show, Mongé worked closely with award winning composer, Andrew Joslyn to create a cross genre orchestral arrangement of her compositions. The event streamed live online in early Fall 2020 and garnered views around the world, setting an example for music meccas alike that live music can thrive even in the most challenging times. With maestro Lee Mills conducting a forty piece orchestra and the incredible Seattle Symphony stage crew guiding the way, the outcome of this masterpiece show was captured and laid the foundation for this live album to come to fruition. On August 27th, 2021 the album titled, Whitney Mongé Live with the Seattle Symphony is set to be released on all major streaming platforms and select songs will be available on limited edition vinyl.
